Current Hair Colour

Salted Caramel Blonde

Why did you choose your Hair Colour shade?

I thought it would be cool to have a Hair Colour that was named after ice cream. Also, I had an ombre and was ready for a change. I love Warm Hair Colours but I Naturally throw Warmth, so I needed a Colour that would embrace my Warmth without being too O-T-T.

What My Hairdresser Products do you use?

With the Salted Caramel mixer — 1/2 x 8 Light Blonde mixed with 1/2 x 7.53 Chocolate Blonde. I mixed it with 20 Volume Developer that gave me the right amount of coverage over my pre Lightened ombre and Natural Regrowth.

Do you have any insider knowledge you want to pass on to our readers?

I don’t have anything new or different to tell except that you can't go past a Tint Bowl and Brush. It’s my favourite accessory we have and is really multifunctional — you can mix your Product, paint your Hair and use the end of the brush to swiftly move through your Hair. It’s the best and makes Colouring so-much-easier and I cover my Hair so-much-better with Product when I use it.

The DAB — The Dirty Ash Blonde.

Why did you choose your Hair Colour shade?

I read our post about the Dark Ash Blonde and was smitten because I love Ash and I needed to add some Depth into my Hair Colour.

What My Hairdresser Products do you use?

I used a mixture of 1/2 x 5 Light Brown and 1/2 x 7.1 Ash Blonde with 20 Volume Developer.

Do you have any insider knowledge you want to pass on to our readers?

Know your Hair. I am very aware that my Hair is thin, so I generally mix 2 Hair Colours to create dimension and layering through my Hair to make it look thicker than it really is. I also know I Naturally throw a lot of Red / Gold, so I like an Ash pigment to keep my Warmth Toned down.

Current Hair Colour

3 Dark Brown

Why did you choose your Hair Colour shade?

I like my Hair Colour sleek and crisp. I always seem to come back to 3 Dark Brown because it makes my Hair so glossy and it isn't that far from my Natural Hair Colour so I know it suits me.

What My Hairdresser Products do you use?

I use 3 Dark Brown with 20 Volume Developer. I like to use 20 Vol to make sure any stray Greys are fully covered because they show twice as much with a very Dark Hair Colour like 3.

Once upon a time I used to be a box Colourer, so I love the Applicator Bottle. Once I became a part of the My Hairdresser family my Hair Colouring Products changed dramatically but my preference for the Applicator convenience didn't. I love throwing my Colour and Developer in the bottle, shaking it up and squeezing the Colour mixture along my Regrowth line and smudging it with my fingers to cover. It means I just Colour my Regrowth and not my entire head because it can be so easy to create Colour Build Up.

Light Golden Blonde.

Why did you choose your Hair Colour shade?

I wanted a Blonde with flashes of Warmth, that still looks Natural. I’m 100% Grey with very fast growing Hair and I needed a Hair Colour that doesn’t create a big contrast line when I have Regrowth. And adding a Golden Colour pigment helps my Colour grab to those pesky Greys and gives me great Colour coverage.

What My Hairdresser Products do you use?

I use 1/2 x 7.3 Golden Blonde and 1/2 x 9 Very Light Blonde with 20 Volume Developer. I only use 20 Vol to guarantee Grey coverage.

If in doubt, get someone to help you out — whether that be seeking advice about your Product choice or asking someone to help you physically apply the Product. You’d be surprised the conversations that Dye It Yourself Hair Colouring opens and how much fun it is doing Hair with friends over a glass of wine and gossip.
