I Tried The New Toasted Almond Blonde Hair Colour

The warm Blonde shade I never thought I'd try became my new at-home favourite.

I honestly thought I was completely happy with my Hair Colour. For months, I'd been maintaining my Blonde with 8.2 Light Beige Blonde, adding Highlights whenever I wanted to brighten things up and give my Hair that fresh summer glow. In fact, you can read about my previous Hair Colour journey here:
How I Revived My Dull Blonde At Home

But the moment I saw the new Colour Cocktails, I knew another Hair Colour transformation was on the horizon. Actually, probably two. So stay tuned, because this definitely won't be the last Hair Colour adventure you'll hear about from me.

Why I Decided To Try Toasted Almond Blonde

My Hair naturally throws a lot of warmth, and after a long summer, it had become even warmer. The sun had lightened and weathered my delicate Blonde lengths, leaving them feeling a little faded and thirsty for Colour.

When I first saw the Toasted Almond Blonde Colour Cocktail, I immediately loved the shade. The only thing that gave me pause was the fact that it contains Gold tones. Normally, I avoid Gold Hair Colours and reach for Beige Blonde shades instead. But this shade was too beautiful to ignore.

So I thought, why not embrace a little warmth for once?

My Before Hair

Before Colouring, my Hair looked like this:

Natural Level 7 Medium Blonde roots
Previously Coloured with 8.2 Light Beige Blonde
Highlighted with 10.2 Very Light Beige Blonde
Previously toned with the Pearl Blonde Toner Kit
Dry, sun-weathered Blonde lengths that needed nourishment.

My Concerns Before Colouring

I'll be honest, I had a few worries. My biggest concern was that the result would be too warm for my liking. I was also worried that my very light, dry ends might grab too much Colour and turn slightly green. I even wondered whether I should apply a 7.3 Golden Blonde through my lengths to rebuild the Warmth, like a Colour Filler.

In the end, I decided to trust the Toasted Almond Blonde would have enough Gold and I wasn't going that much darker.

My Hair was overdue for some pigment, and I knew that even if the ends needed more Colour afterwards, another application could easily help build them back up.

What I Used

My Hair is long, thick and incredibly thirsty for Colour, so here's exactly what I used:
1 x Toasted Almond Blonde Colour Cocktail (includes 1 x 8 Light Blonde and 1 x 7.3 Golden Blonde)
2 x 20 Volume Developer
1 x Tint Bowl, Brush and Clips
1 x Wide Tooth Comb

Total Cost: $78

For me, it felt like a complete salon-style Hair Colour makeover at home.

Why I Chose 20 Volume Developer

I chose 20 Volume Developer because I had some regrowth and a few pesky Greys that can be difficult to cover. I also wanted to make sure the Colour properly grabbed onto my Hair rather than simply glossing over the surface and fading too quickly.

How I Applied Toasted Almond Blonde

Once I had everything ready, I mixed all of the Colour and Developer together and got some help with the application.
We started by applying the Hair Colour to my roots and base area first.

Once the roots were completely covered, we worked the Colour through my mid-lengths and ends.

After every strand was coated, I combed the Colour through to ensure even coverage and left it to develop for 40 minutes.

The Result

After rinsing, blow-drying and styling, I had a completely new Hair Colour.
The first thing I noticed was how much healthier my Hair looked.
It felt richer, smoother and more polished. My Blonde looked more expensive and refined, and it genuinely felt like adding pigment back into my Hair was exactly what those worn-out lengths had been missing.

What surprised me most was the tone.
The result wasn't nearly as warm as I expected it to be, or as warm as the Colour swatch suggested.
Because the neutral Gold blend was applied over my lighter Blonde base, the final result became a softer, more muted Gold Blonde. The warmth felt subtle rather than bold, and I absolutely loved it.

Would I Use Toasted Almond Blonde Again?

Absolutely.
In fact, when it's time for my next root touch-up, I plan to apply the Colour through my lengths again to continue rebuilding Warmth and adding pigment through my ends.

I genuinely love this shade.
The warmth was a little shocking at first because I've spent the last decade reaching for cool Beige and Ash Blonde Hair Colours. But once I got used to it, I realised how beautifully it complemented my skin tone.
The soft Golden tones added brightness and radiance that I hadn't experienced with cooler shades.

Now if only the wind had cooperated while I was trying to take my after photos...
