How to keep that Summer glow all year round

Forget full heads of Colour or a full Colour transformation, stick with casually painting Highlights through your Hair for that sun kissed look.

Do you remember your childhood summers when the sun would kiss your Hair with glimmers of Golden highlights after days spent in the water. They would gradually grow out until they were topped up again the next summer. Now its all about wearing a hat, sand hating, can’t waste a full work day amount of time at the beach kind of life. What happened to those highlights? Gone.

And now you don’t consider yourself the kind of person who would Colour their Hair, no matter how many Hairstyles you add to your hairinspo board on Pinterest. So now what? Your childhood might be gone, but your Highlights don’t need to be. We love these kind of posts because it's so simple. Forget full heads of Colour or a full Colour transformation, stick with casually painting Highlights through your Hair for that sun kissed look you crave, that you can keep all year round. (While we’re at it, take a look at our Highlights post that can get you up to date.)

We like the sun kissed Highlight style. It’s low maintenance, grows out nicely and is the best choice if you are not great at maintenance and root touchups. It's also very simple.

Follow these tips:

Paint the Highlights with a tint brush or use your fingertips.
Choose Golden or Blonde Tones, that are lighter than your Natural Colour.
Apply fewer Highlights than you think, you can always come back for more.
Keep them small. The aim is to be subtle and Natural.
Wrap each Highlight in foil, to stop it from spreading onto other Hair.
Start your Highlights a little further down from your part, staggering them around the face and then throughout the Hair.
