Ask MYHD: How can I be Blonde, without my regrowth looking so dark?

Is there any way I can choose a Blonde that has a more Natural look, that will make my regrowth not look so dark and harsh?

Dear My Hairdresser

In the past, I have lightened my Hair to a Light Blonde and I love it. But when I start to have regrowth, it looks so Dark, and I swear I'm not as Naturally Dark as it looks. Before I begin my transition to lighter Hair again, is there any way I can choose a Blonde that has a more Natural look, that will make my regrowth not look so dark and harsh?

A rule of thumb when Colouring is to stick within 2 shades of your Natural Colour. So if you are a 5 Light Brown, try for a 7 Medium Blonde in lightness. By sticking to this rule, it creates a Natural look that is far less harsh.
You can also try a different Hairstyle that is a little more low maintenance. Try a Bronde approach, using Colours to your taste and style. It’s versatile and great for all lengths of Hair and works with different Hair Colours. It is also perfect for a softer, Natural look.
You could also opt for a Highlighting technique. We recommend the sun-kissed look. It’s similar to a Bronde, with a softer look when your regrowth is growing out. Remember to keep your Colour choice only 2 shades away from your Natural Colour.
