Ask MYHD: Can I change my Summer Colour to a Winter Colour?

I want to enjoy the winter months with a lower maintenance Hair Colour that is darker and richer, but I still want my Highlights to show through. How do I do it?

Dear My Hairdresser,

Currently I have Highlights and a Golden Blonde Colour in my Hair. Naturally, I'm a Dark sort-of-Auburn Blonde. I want to enjoy the winter months with a lower maintenance Hair Colour that is darker and richer. I’m thinking a Light Brown, but I still want my Highlights to show through.
How do I do it?
Thanks,
Susie

Hi Susie,
Great idea to make less work during the cooler months. Firstly, don't choose a Colour too dark, remember you can always go darker if you want.

Secondly, because you say your Colour is Golden and has a lot of Warmth, adding a Natural Hair Colour over the top will be perfect. It can Tone your Colour and Highlights, while still leaving you with a Natural warmth. Go with a 5 Light Brown or 6 Dark Blonde if you want a shade a little lighter.

If you want a little more richness and warmth, squeeze in some 5.53 Chocolate Brown for a lovely, warm Brunette that will leave your Highlights glowing through.
Happy Colouring!
